Why I Only Use Clean Beauty Products at Naked Eye Beauty
When I opened Naked Eye Beauty, one of the first decisions I made was about the products I would — and wouldn't — bring through my doors. It wasn't a trend for me. It was a value.
I've always believed that what we put on our bodies matters just as much as what we put in them. And when you're sitting in my chair for two or three hours, the last thing I want is for your scalp to be absorbing a cocktail of harsh chemicals while we catch up on life.
So I made the commitment to clean beauty from the start. And I've never looked back.
What Does "Clean Beauty" Actually Mean?
Clean beauty isn't just a buzzword — it means formulating products without ingredients that are known or suspected to be harmful. Think sulfates, parabens, synthetic fragrances, silicones, and other chemicals that can disrupt hormones, irritate the scalp, or compromise the long-term health of your hair.
Clean doesn't mean less effective. If anything, the brands I use have pushed me to rethink what "results" really look like — healthier hair from the inside out, not just a surface-level shine that fades in a week.
The Brands I Trust
I don't carry products lightly. Every brand on my shelf has earned its place. Here's what I work with and why:
O&M is an Australian brand that's been at the forefront of clean hair care for years. Their color systems are free from ammonia and other harsh chemicals, and they perform beautifully. I love that they've proven you don't have to compromise on results to do right by your clients.
Innersense is pure, purposeful, and incredibly effective. Everything is USDA Certified Organic where possible, and the formulas are thoughtful without being fussy. Their products smell like a spa and leave hair feeling genuinely nourished.
If you haven't heard of Cult + King yet, you're in for a treat. Their whole philosophy is built around hair wellness — using only what your hair actually needs, nothing more. Their styling products are unlike anything else I've used. Simple ingredients, serious results.
Reverie is a luxury clean brand that I reach for when I want something truly elevated. Their oils and treatments are exceptional for dry, color-treated, or high-maintenance hair. Everything feels intentional and refined.
Afterworld Organics is a small-batch, truly natural brand that goes above and beyond when it comes to ingredient integrity. I love supporting indie brands that are doing things the right way — and this one delivers.
Sparrow 4 Everyone is a brand close to my heart because it was created with all hair types in mind. Inclusive, clean, and effective — exactly the kind of brand I want representing my salon.
Why It Matters to Me
I became a hairstylist because I love making people feel beautiful. But over the years, I started asking harder questions — about what's in the products I use every day, about the long-term health of my clients, and about what kind of salon I actually wanted to build.
The answer was always the same: one I could feel proud of. One where every decision was made with care.
That's Naked Eye Beauty. And it's why every product on my shelf was chosen on purpose. xo jen
