Healthy Recipe: Mango Banana Smoothie with Chia Seeds


Mango is by far one of my favorite fruits. I picked up some frozen Mango at Trader Joe's recently and figured they would be a good ingredient for a nice smoothie, so I created this recipe that is somewhat Indian inspired and also inspired by Moon Juice's Golden Milk, which just blows my mind every time I drink it! 

The added flavors of Nutmeg, Cinnamon and healing Tumeric give this smoothie a little bit of a kick, then I top it off with Chia Seeds to really get my body going.

1 cup Almond Coconut Milk (Blue Diamond is my favorite, or just regular Coconut Milk or Almond Milk, I like the two mixed together)
1/2 Cup Orange Juice
1 - Banana
1/2 cup Frozen Mango Chunks
1 tsp Tumeric Root Powder
Pinch of Cinnamon
Pinch of Nutmeg (freshly grated is the best)
1 Spoonful of local honey (or Agave for vegans)

Blend together for about a minute. Pour into a nice glass then add about a tablespoon of chia seeds and stir with a spoon. This is great for breakfast or whenever you need a fresh pick me up in the middle of the day.
